Biography
KELLY CAUVEL is Of Counsel and Head of the Construction Transactions Practice at BDG Law Group. She represents public and private project owners in complex construction matters, including contract and bond claims, dispute avoidance, and risk management involving contractors. Her practice also includes resolving claims related to professional service providers such as architects, engineers, inspectors, and construction managers. In addition, she advises on procurement and contract development and negotiates agreements to support project success from inception through completion.
Ms. Cauvel has previously held key roles representing two of the largest educational bond programs in the nation for the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles Community College District. She leverages her extensive experience with large-scale construction projects to advise clients in both public and private sectors, including developing procurement strategies, drafting contract documents, and implementing risk mitigation approaches from the earliest project stages.
Ms. Cauvel also has significant experience in strategic communications, public affairs, and government relations. As former Deputy Managing Director of a public affairs advocacy firm, she advanced client initiatives through government approval and entitlement processes, representing organizations across the construction, energy, education, aviation, transportation, real estate development, and waste management sectors.
Ms. Cauvel earned her Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School, where she served on the Board of Governors for the Interscholastic Honors Trial Advocacy Program. During law school, she also interned with the Criminal Branch of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
