BDG has notched another significant victory for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) as it moves forward with ambitious plans for the extension of the Purple Line subway system.
The firm successfully defended LA Metro in contentious litigation with an adjacent property developer over the new Westwood/UCLA Station, with the developer claiming that LA Metro had prevented the construction of their proposed adjacent high-rise condominium project. The developer sought a redesign of the Westwood/UCLA Station that would have delayed the subway project for years and incurred tens of millions in additional design and construction costs.
BDG defeated multiple requests for injunctions to stop the construction, and ultimately secured a victory in the trial court when the Court ruled in a writ trial that Metro did not have to redesign the station. This win not only saves LA Metro tens of millions of dollars, it will allow the station to be completed in time for the LA28 Summer Olympics.
