BDG Law Group is pleased to announce that as of October 1, 2026, attorney Matthew R. Hicks has been elevated to Shareholder of BDG Law Group, and attorneys Robert Bergman and Richard Fond have been elevated to Partners of BDG Law Group.

Matthew Hicks, Shareholder, has been with BDG Law Group for nearly two decades and leads the firm’s Construction Law practice. He has handled virtually all manner of construction disputes, including time-related claims; extra-work and change-order claims; different site-condition disputes, such as conflicts over unforeseen physical conditions at a project site; claims involving inadequate design and construction defects; indemnity claims, statutory-penalty claims and attorney-fee litigation; bid disputes, contract disputes and performance-bond claims; and payment claims and defenses involving payment bonds, mechanic’s liens, stop notices and insurance claims. He also has extensive experience representing private companies, individuals and public entities in complex business matters, including through trials, arbitrations, mediations and pre-litigation dispute resolution, as well as public-entity ADA and Rehabilitation Act litigation. Known for his thoughtful approach, practical counsel and commitment to achieving meaningful results, Matt is a trusted advocate for the clients he serves.

Robert Bergman, Partner, has been with BDG Law Group for nearly two decades and leads the firm’s Corporate, Transactional, and Estate Planning & Probate practices. He has a broad and sophisticated range of experience in real estate and business transactions, commercial litigation, estate planning, construction and building contracts, and tax matters. With a multidisciplinary perspective, Robert helps clients navigate the legal issues that arise throughout the life of a business, from structuring transactions and resolving commercial disputes to planning for the future. His ability to address both transactional and litigation-related concerns provides clients with practical, well-rounded counsel tailored to their particular objectives.

Richard Fond, Partner, joined BDG Law Group in 2009. He is an accomplished trial lawyer with more than 50 years of experience managing and trying complex civil cases in state, federal and bankruptcy courts, as well as before arbitration tribunals. His practice includes commercial and real property litigation, eminent domain, employment termination matters, unfair-competition and other business-tort claims, partnership disputes, creditors’ rights and remedies, and matters involving attachments, receiverships and injunctions. He is particularly recognized for his strategic approach to pleadings, developing complaints and answers designed to advance a client’s litigation strategy from the outset.

Please join us in congratulating Matt, Robert, and Richard!
