BDG Law Group is pleased to announce that Shareholder Brian Bergman has been named to the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal’s 2026 list of “Top 100 Lawyers” in California. In the special issue, Brian is recognized for representing clients, including the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, in eminent domain cases that are helping to improve major infrastructure across California.
Brian is currently handling real estate acquisitions for multiple infrastructure projects across the state, including the South Bay BART expansion and the Los Angeles Subway expansion, and dam and stormwater control projects. The challenge in trying eminent domain cases for a public entity is twofold: overcoming prejudice against the government and the subject matter itself.
“Eminent domain valuation cases can be highly technical, and difficult for some juries to comprehend the nuances of property valuation,” Brian tells the Daily Journal. “A lot of time and effort is spent whittling complicated issues down to basic concepts that the jury can understand.”
It’s all about establishing trust with the jury, as Brian explains. “The jury must believe that the public entity is treating the property owner fairly.”
Brian’s recent successes on major projects across California have also earned him recognition as one of Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Leaders of Influence: Litigators & Trial Attorneys” list for 2026 for his real estate litigation experience, as one of the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal’s 2025 “Niche Lawyers” for his work in eminent domain, and as one of Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Global Real Estate Lawyers” in 2026. BDG’s real estate services were recognized in the Chambers Spotlight California Guide for its work in the category of Real Estate Litigation – Los Angeles.
